BYLAWS
Article I -
Meetings
Section 1. Regular
meetings of the club shall be held at
each month from August to May unless otherwise ordered by the President.
Section 2. Special meetings may be called by the President.
Section 3. Two-thirds (2/3) of those present and voting shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business.
Article II -
Duties of Officers
Section 1. The President shall:
preside at all meetings of the club,
be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee
and perform such other duties as may be prescribed in these Bylaws or
assigned by the club.
Section 2. The 1st Vice President shall:
act as aide to the President,
coordinate all fundraising activities,
represent the interests of the drill team members from the Memorial High
School Senior campus and assume all duties of the President in his/her
absence.
Section 3. The 2nd Vice President shall:
assist the 1st Vice President in coordinating the fundraising activities
and represent the interests of the drill team members from the
Memorial High School Stroman campus.
Section 4. The Secretary shall:
keep an accurate record of all meetings of the club,
attend to the correspondence of the club
and perform such other duties as may be delegated to this office.
Section 5. The Treasurer shall:
keep an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements, showing each
activity separately as well as a complete record of all funds and pay only bills
authorized by the club.
Article III -
Elections
Section 1. There shall be a Nominating Committee consisting of five (5) members elected by
the club at its February meeting. The President shall appoint one (1) of the five (5)
to serve as Chairperson of the committee.
a) The Nominating Committee shall select one (1) nominee each for the offices
of President, 1st Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and report at the
regular meeting in March.
b) Following the report of the Nominating Committee, an opportunity shall be
given for nominations from the floor.
c) Only those who have consented shall be eligible for nominations, either from the committee or from the floor.
d) President, 1st Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected by
voice or ballot at the April meeting.
e) Following try-outs, the Nominating Committee shall select one (1) nominee
for the office of 2nd Vice President. The committee shall report at the regular
meeting in May.
f) Following the report of the Nominating Committee, an opportunity shall be given for nominations from the floor.
g) Only those who have consented shall be eligible for nominations, either from
the committee or from the floor.
h) 2nd Vice President shall be elected by voice or ballot at the May meeting.
Section 2. A vacancy occurring in an office shall be filled by a majority vote. In case a vacancy
occurs in the office of President, the 1st Vice President shall assume those duties.
Section 3. No officer shall hold the same office for more than two (2) successive terms.
Article IV -
Committees
Section 1. Standing committees shall be Membership, Fundraising, Publicity, Support and
Telephone. Their term shall be for one (1) year.
Section 2. Standing committees shall be appointed by the President. The committees shall meet soon after the election of officers.
Section 3. Special committees shall be appointed by the President.
Section 4. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the
Nominating Committee.
Section 5. The director of the Memorial High School Dance/Drill Team shall be an ex-officio
member of all committees.
Section 6. The duties of the standing committees shall be as follows:
a) The Membership Chairperson shall conduct a membership drive at the
beginning of the school year. Efforts should be made throughout the year to
add to the membership.
b) The Fundraising Chairperson shall coordinate all fundraising activities and
assist with individual fundraising projects as needed.
c) The Publicity Chairperson shall submit notices of meetings and special
events to the local newspaper and coordinate publicity for the Dance/Drill
Team.
d) The Support Chairperson shall organize support for the Dance/Drill Team
from the Booster Club regularly throughout the year.
e) The Telephone Chairperson shall select as many committee members as
deemed necessary to keep the membership of the club informed.
Section 7. A committee Chairperson may appoint as many members as necessary to fulfill the
duties of the committee. When no number is given, there shall be no fewer than
three (3) members on a committee.
Section 8. A committee Chairperson will present committee projects to the Booster Club for
approval at a regular meeting of the club. The membership will vote for final
approval of all projects.
Article V -
Dues
Dues shall be $10.00 per family per year, payable at the first meeting in August.
Article VI -
Quorum
Two-thirds (2/3) of those present and voting shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of any business.
Article VII -
Parliamentary Authority
Roberts’ Rules of Order Revised shall govern this club in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the Constitution of the Memorial High School Dance/Drill Team Booster Club and these Bylaws.
Article VIII -
Amendments
The Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the members present and voting at any regular meeting. The amendments must have been presented in writing at the preceding
regular meeting of the club.
